Students participated and got 2nd and 3rd places on the Hackathon
EMODnet organized on September 4th to 6 a second hackathon on open marine data. During Open Sea Lab II, the teams were challenged to create knowledge and value with open marine data, and to develop innovative solutions that address the challenges of the blue society. The aim was to form multidisciplinary teams, consisting of a mix of programmers, communication experts, data enthusiasts and entrepreneurs.
The Open Sea Lab 2019 addressed challenges in three main categories: Sustainable Blue Economy, Marine Environmental Management & Protection, Ocean Literacy and Blue Society. In those areas the competitors had to bring their expertise to develop novel marine and maritime applications using EMODnet, ICES and Copernicus Marine’s wealth of marine data and services.
